Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, November 21, 2008.
Seasonable clear skies will prevail across most of Mexico on Friday due to high pressure, although a front will brush across the far northern portion of the country, possibly stirring up a few clouds. The high pressure will extend across Central America, and mostly sunny skies are expected from Guatemala down to parts of Nicaragua during the day. A lingering front will extend across the Caribbean Islands, Costa Rica, and Panama, kicking up showers and thunderstorms across the southern portion of Central America. The front will also produce precipitation over Hispaniola and the Lesser Antilles, while Cuba and the Bahamas can expect fairly pleasant conditions on Friday. No tropical development is expected.
Relatively low pressure will continue to fire up heavy rain and strong thunderstorms across the northern half of South America on Friday, while onshore flow will contribute to precipitation over parts of eastern Brazil and Paraguay. Meanwhile, a ridge will keep the clouds to a minimum over Argentina during the day, while a front will bring heavy precipitation to the far southern tip of the continent.
Southern California had a wet November day back in 1967. Over a foot of rain fell in the mountains of Southern California while Los Angeles received nearly 8 inches. All of this amounted in the worst flooding and mudslides in 33 years.
